Tongan Language Week

Tongan Language Week

Last week was Tongan Language week, so we had a activity to do. This activity was to pick one of four Tongan Celebs. The options were to pick Richie Mo’unga, Jason Taumalolo, Steven Adams and Dimound Langi. So we had to provide 10 facts and 5 questions to ask them if we met them. This is what I worked on.

Fun: In the holidays I showed fun by going to playing with my brother. Me and my brother played some board games such like jenga and Snakes  ladders. It was a pretty hard game but I was not a sore loser. Overral it was really fun to play with my brother because I really enjoyed it.

At the MOTAT we had lessions. We learned about science and see how things work. It was really cool to experiment new stuff. Overall the session was very good.

MOTAT Highlights

Yesterday the whole of team Tui went on a trip to the MOTAT. When we arrived there it was pretty much what I expexted. My highlight of the day was going into the car gallery. Overall I had a very fun time at the Motat.

Ping Pong ball Experiment

Title: Having Fun With Hair Dryers

The purpose is to understand the air pressure.

Hypothesis/Prediction (What I think will happen and why?)

M: I think that the ball will fall off every time you tilt or move the hair dryer.

K: I think that the ball will lose balance (fall off) at times.

J: I think that the ball will float higher and higher.

  • Hair dryer   –  Ping pong ball

  • First you want to plug in your hair dryer and turn it on.
  • Secondly you want to place the ball on top of the hair dryer.
  • Next you just want to turn it on and see what will happen.
  • Then check your prediction and see what really happened

K: The ball did fall off because we couldn’t keep the hair drier still. So the air coming out of the hair drier was moving in a different direction.

K: To keep the ball up in the air, the hair drier must be kept in one place.

Glass and candle experiment

Glass and Candle Experiment

My prediction is that the flame will just blow out

Equipment you will need:

  • Glass Cup   – Glass Plate   – Candle
  • Matches   –  Warm Water / Color Dye

  • First you want to grab all of the equipment you need: Cup, Plate, Candle, Matches, Warm water and Color dye.

  • Secondly you want to grab the plate and the candle, what you want to do with that is to light the bottom of the candle so it sticks to the middle of the plate.

  • When that’s done you want to put warm water or dye on to the plate.

  • Next you want to use the matches to light up the candle.

  • Genuinely put the glass cup over the lighted candle.

  • Then see your prediction and see if you were right.
